The town continues to grow, despite the unusual amount of heavy weather. Towards the end of the year an adventurer named Morik is arrested for the murder of a paladin, Lilwyn Jestice (despite his successful efforts to raise her back). Whatever the results of this might have been may never be known, as Morik was killed during an escape attempt.
A strange cult emerges, practising necromancy, and begins a long, drawn out assault on the town. Using portals and undead, as well as mind control magics and psionics, they quickly become a dangerous, if mysterious, threat.
A revolution, given fire by what is seen as Morik's unjust execution, is attempted by a group mostly consisting of his friends. An attempt is made to break into the residence of Commander Vastonne, but the attempt is discovered. Unfortunately, before they can be caught, several buildings mysteriously burst into flame (use of magic is suspected) and in the confusion the perpetrators escape. While the flames are eventually put out, the town is put under lock down while the Queens men search, but one month later it ends without a word.
Relations between Skalagrim and Stonereach take a bad turn with the emergence of a cult dedicated to cleansing the Obsidian Shore of Stonereach's presence, which kidnapped a young girl from the town for a ritual sacrifice. Many adventurers attempted to rescue her, but were forced to delay the search as the Orc colony in the forest was angered by the cultists in an attempt to distract them. The Orc attack was defeated in a large battle, but the struggle left the would be rescuers too weak to defeat the cultists, who almost managed to escape entirely. In the end the ritual was averted at the last moment by Solomus Obidaion, who managed to rescue the girl and return her to town safely, preventing outright war from breaking out between the two settlements. Commander Vastonne is commended for his efforts in organising the rescue.
The necromancy using cult, now known as the 'Kathkar', conduct their most devastating attack on the town to date, unleashing a hail of explosive gems from a portal high above the town, aining them down on the unsuspecting populous. The Kathkar are recognised as a high threat by Julianos, and he apoints a few brave citizens to the office of Chief Inspector of the Kathkar problem. These were Aric, Solomus, Miku, and Lexi.
A large group of bandits target the area via sea front, causing much general mayhem, and stealing at least one ship. They move to take up permanent residence before being driven off by adventurers, leaving a few groups behind undetected.
Early in the year Lord Julianos calls a Town meeting, using the opportunity to soothe many concerns held by the towns citizens and announce plans for oncoming upgrades to the towns defences and forces. The meeting is met with great approval. Unfortunately, that night as Julianos returned home from the meeting he is attacked and critically wounded. The attacker is driven off, but Julianos has to be taken back to Impiltur by boat for emergency healing. Before he leaves he manages to leave orders that Mikhal Ford, a mostly unknown Lord up to this point, is to be left in charge of the colony during his absence. His attacker was never found.
A few months later the creation of a militia is sponsored by Lord Toullouse. It is initially led by Captain Obidaion, but after a disastrous attack against the Kathkar cult with great casualties in which he is presumed dead, leadership falls to the second in command, Lilwyn Jestice, and her new second Tallic Varcs. Noble order restricts the militia so this can never happen again. The Kathkar, however, are not heard from after this for several years.
An ancient Dwarven mine is discovered. Gneiss Stoneshield, a dwarf searching for his clans old clan-hold, immediately lays claim to the area. This draws the ire of the Toullouse noble family, whom wish to own the mine for themselves. Diplomacy between the two parties falls flat before it even begins, with neither side willing to give quarter. The struggle is unforgiving, but Gneiss proves too be too strong an obstacle for the family to remove, for now.
In the winter months, when the town is suddenly shaken late one night by a fierce explosion. An assassination attempt on an adventurer named Dorn in the shop/house he owns, utilising what later is found to be several barrels of explosives, starts a fierce blaze that very quickly threatens to spread to other houses in the area. Fast acting residents of the town are quick to smother the flames however, and Dorn escapes the attempt on his life, along with the family of his fiancée who are present. Dorn's attempts at finding his would be killers are harsh and indiscriminate, upsetting the criminal community along his path. While he does eventually disappear without a word, and his head washes up on the shores a few months later, no one is sure whether his assassins caught up with him, he angered someone too powerful, or he went to the wrong persons for help...
Relations between the nobles and the general populous have degraded greatly under Lord Ford, with the town guard growing ever more unpopular. Perhaps it is this that led to the assassination of Commander Vastonne, Head of the Queens Men, in his office one night in the year 1425. His replacement, a woman named Appolyon Swift already with a dark and ruthless reputation, could be said to be even worse. Her competence and ability to get results, however, have proven to be far higher than her predecessors.
The Bandits, after several years of absence, finally return in full force, bringing several ships worth of people with them. Attempts at driving them off prove unsuccessful, and they quickly establish a foothold along the coast. Several plans are put in motion by then to either take control of Stonereach or destroy it, even once successfully destroying the Queens men's Barracks and HQ, but largely they are foiled by adventurers. However, they remain a potent and ever present threat.
The Orcs gain a new leader, a massive Orc named Orken, who's first act is to declare a truce with Stonereach. Though suspicious, the Stonereach Nobles agree, if only to give their forces time to prepare for what they feel is an inevitable assault. The truce actually lasts several months, to the surprise of many, but ends when Orken is cast out following the discovery that he is half human. The Orcs use the opportunity to attack the now unprepared city. However a group led by an outsider named 'Ghost' and an outlaw named Liena get word of their plan and intercept them. Joined by the indomitable Gneiss and the now outcast Orken the group holds the line against the orcs until the city militia arrives to back them up. The orcs assault is weathered until it is eventually broken. Their assault on Skalagrim at the same time proved their undoing, as dividing their forces led to their downfall.
The Mages guild, after several months of planning, is finally able to build a tower out in the reaches of the Grey Forest, led by Morridem Goldenmir. Membership grows quickly.
The Kathkar finally return for one final assault. This proves fatal for them, as the town has been preparing for such a day. Led by Tallic and the militia, the Kathkars base is infiltrated and destroyed, it's leaders put to sword. Solomus Obidaion, long thought dead, turns out to have been merely captured, and is released. The heroes escape, and the Kathkar base, a floating citadel, disintegrates. It takes two weeks for the town to be fully cleaned of the ash.
Over the past 8 years the colony has continued to swell. Immigrants have arrived from all over the world to seek their fortune. Stonereach has prospered, and relations with Skalagrim, while strained, have been peaceful for the most part. But now more than ever, threats remain to the town from within as well as without. Undead have been sighted in the crypts, unexplained deaths have been occurring in the strangest of places, and the grey forest is never safe.
Early in the year, Lord Julianos finally returns, at last fully healed from the attempted assassination. Unfortunatly he also bears ill news from the capitol. Queen Sambryl has been assassinated, by none other than Jack Gill, the head revolutionary who was thought to have died on the original journey to found Stonereach. He was quickly executed. In light of these events, the bounties on all assassins in Stonereach are renewed and redoubled; namely the attempted assassin of Julianos himself and the assassins of Commander Vastonne.
Early in the year Lord Julianos is assassinated with Lord Ford in a slaughter on the guards of the household. Lady Natalie Julianos is declared missing, no signs of her are found. Situations escalate into riots, which later turn on the remaining nobles, during which assassins murder Lords Stendrahl Toullouse and Lucias d'Aermanie. Those found of the Toullouse house were killed by undead, released from the Toullouse manor basement during the riot.
Afterwards the town descends into martial law under Commander Swift. During a forced search of the entire town the Queen's Men meet resistance at the Temple of Lathander where the local militia and concerned citizens have gathered. Commander Swift ordered the temple be set afire when the doors were barred against the search, which resulted in the Sunite Priestess Liena and the Ilmatari paladin Lilwyn Jestice slaying Commander Swift. The militia under Lilwyn Jestice assumes control and attempts to restore order with a softer hand.
Lord Palin Montague, one of the council of 12, is sent from Lyrabar with an escort of the Imperial Navy, restores order to the colony, and reclaims the mines. He remains as the Lord of the colony.
Queen Sambryl's nearest of kin is placed on the throne, Duke D'Nard. King D'Nard proves quickly to be new sort of ruler, and makes many changes favoring merchants and enhancing trade in the country.
Solomus Obidaion is selected by Lord Montague to be the new Commander. The guard is officially renamed the King's Guard. An investigation is immediately launched into the assassinations of the nobles, and a culprit is found and held for months before a trial. At the end of a drawn out trial Alexis Cartwright, one of the origional settlers of the colony, is found guilty of the assassinations on the Toullouse House and Lord d'Aermanie.
Skallagrim is attacked by an army of Giants. A war ensues during which it is discovered the giants had taken strange allies. The north village is lost in a battle. It is retaken, but shortly later the main village is lost. The Skallagrim refugees flee to Stonereach and are given shelter in refugee camps on the northern farmlands. Hafthor Graerwulf is lost in battle.
The war is considered a loss to both sides, but the Skallagrim find a hidden village of their kin farther into the mountains. This is the Galagr clan at the Bastion of Skallagrim.
The paladin Lilwyn Jestice is murdered on the docks. The body was not recovered.
The Skallagrim refugees are moved to the Bastion after the war is officially declared over. The five clans of Skallagrim and the Galagr clan merge slowly.
Chief Tameikk Tanarsson calls for an army to begin re-building in Skallagrim.
Igmar Heagans is taken ill. On his deathbed he warns the people against the shore people. The Skallagrim people begin to receed from contact and interactions with Stonereach.
