By default, NWN2 saves screenshots in JPG format, but on top of that, very heavily-compressed JPG format. This is the single largest factor leading to terrible screenshots.

Fortunately, we can change this. Open the nwn2.ini file in the My Documents folder. Search for "ScreenshotFormat". If it's there, change the line to:

ScreenshotFormat=tga

If it's not found, search for "[Graphics Options]" instead, and add the above line directly under it.

Screenshots should be taken with the best graphics settings you can manage, ideally with everything maxed out.

And, of course, you can use the 'H' key (by default) to toggle hiding the user interface. This can be very useful for panoramic screenshots.
